The Story

We are proud to introduce a limited run of our new Turner Indigo Cardigan. These pieces have been indigo dyed with each cardigan having its own unique characteristics. This is the only batch for 2022. This classic, shawl neck cardigan gives a relaxed look to your style, with a new &SONS twist…

This luxurious knitted cardigan is made from a sustainable, 100% cotton thread. Each piece is completely unique due to the technique of dying the indigo yarn. The slight shade variation between each piece ensures that no two are exactly the same!

As a comfortable, regular fit, it features fully fashioned raglan seams and a large shawl collar. The traditional cardigan meets the much-loved &SONS details, reinforced patches on the elbows, and two patch pockets with a pocket trim. The front fastenings with leather football buttons.

Indigo dye, by its nature is not very colour-fast. This is what helps to create the fades on your jeans after wear! We advise avoiding contact with lighter coloured clothes and upholstery when wearing raw denim as the colour can transfer. Should the colour transfer onto your lighter-coloured clothing it should wash out with your usual detergent.

Origins

Knitwear has always been a staple in the &SONS collections. These timeless pieces have been featured in some of the most iconic images over the decades. Steve McQueen was known for styling out a classic shawl cardigan and it was this image in particular that inspired Phil when it came to creating our latest piece.

As always, Steve looked effortlessly stylish in a cardigan and I knew our Pioneers would feel the same. It’s a more tailored cut than our original cardigan and this was something I wanted to replicate in ours. I was also inspired by the shawl collars of early nautical jumpers; the large collar elevates the piece without ruining the silhouette. I have been wearing one of our early samples through the summer evenings and it’s my favourite garment at the moment.
