The Story

Complete your outfit

From Edward VII to the modern-day Pioneer

Origins

Manual for Life The term ā€˜waistcoat’ is derived from the cutting of the cloth used to make them, as prior to their invention British tailors would cut the cloth for a coat much longer than that of a waistcoat. Over the years they have been in and out of fashion but we belive they are an essential in any Pioneers wardrobe. With a few rules of course. We support pioneers and those willing to break the norm, so our rules are as as simple guide. Style your waistcoat however you like, it’s the perfect layered companion.

Keep it fitted A baggy waistcoat is never a good look, so buy the right size and cinch in if it isn’t quite right.

Be seen and not heard Stick to neutral colours - A waistcoat should be seen and not heard… don’t go loud and keep things neutral and understated.

Undo the bottom button This stems from a story that Edward VII would unfasten the bottom button as he put on weight and his court followed suit.

Be versatile Not just for wedding days - The modern waistcoat can be warn in many different ways to either dress up or dress down.

Style Tip: Keep your waistcoat fitted, muted and always undo the bottom button. We would hate to upset the king.
