The Story

Timeless utility. Indigo soul.

Stripped back to its essential form, the Edward Grandad Shirt is an ode to understated craftsmanship. Cut from a durable cotton-linen blend and finished in rich indigo, it wears in—not out—growing more personal with every wash and wear.

With its distinctive collarless design, the shirt speaks to its workwear roots—first adopted by Victorian labourers who found traditional collars restrictive on the job. We’ve honoured that practicality with reinforced elbows, a concealed pencil pocket, and a contrast chambray cuff lining that shows its character when the sleeves are rolled. It’s utility, with intention.

Garment-washed and detailed with our signature ampersand, it’s made for the modern-day Pioneer who appreciates where things come from—and where they’re going.

ORIGINS

The Grandad collar—also known as the band collar—traces back to the late 1800s, when detachable collars were the norm for formal dress. Workers would simply remove the collar, leaving behind a minimal neckline that was cooler, more comfortable, and easier to wear throughout the day. It became the uniform of the working man—practical, clean, and quietly rebellious.

We’ve brought that heritage into the present with an indigo-dyed finish—one of the oldest dyeing techniques in history. Used for centuries across India, Japan, and West Africa, indigo is more than colour—it’s culture. Each Edward shirt is garment-dyed in indigo, meaning no two are exactly alike. The shade will evolve with you, softening and fading at the seams to tell your story, stitch by stitch.
